In this thesis, numerical approach for solving the contact phenomena between rotor and stator is shown. As well as simple contact models, complex FEM models are analyzed too. For simple models Runge-Kutta method were used but for complex model special application, called RotorDyn, was programmed. In this thesis, a new approach in solving the contact phenomena was presented by introducing a new d.o.f. - torsional degrees of freedom. In program package RotorDyn linear and also nonlinear normal force model are implemented as well as different friction force models based on Coulomb friction model. In RotorDyn program package different integration scheme are implemented like HHT α method and Generalized α method. Detailed parameter studies were performed with analysis of many effects on rotor - stator contact. At the end, numerical analysis of blade loss simulation is performed. In this manner, a complete insight in nonlinear dynamic behavior of the rotor was obtained with special goal to determine the parameter which will cause the unstable behavior of the rotational machines. In the same time experimental analysis was done on the specially designed test rig, with the purpose of validation of numerical results. Multi channel data acquisition equipment based on NI 4472 measuring PCI card was used. Numerical results showed a good correlation with experimental results. Results were compared in time and frequency domain as well as in the shape of orbits. For the purpose of experimental analysis a special routines were made in program package Matlab.
